Tariko was born in Menzelinsk, Tatarstan on March 17, 1962. He moved to Moscow at the age 17 to study. He graduated from the Economics faculty at Moscow Institute for Railway Engineering in 1989 and received an MBA from Institut europeen d’administration des affaires, France in 2000.
Tariko, based on his success, wanted to create a Russian consumer brand that would “embody Russia’s vibrant spirit.” Tariko was reported to have wondered why Russia, the country that gave birth to vodka and has the largest vodka market in the world, didn’t have a premium vodka brand made domestically.
