Professor Samdhong Rinpoche, a highly learned Tibetan Buddhist scholar, who currently lives in India, turns 84 on 5th November He is regarded as the right-hand man of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.

A former Prime Minister of Tibet&#;s “Government-in-exile” and former Speaker of the Tibetan Parliament in Exile, Professor Samdhong Rinpoche is still a very influential public figure in the Tibetan diaspora.

Lobsang Tenzin, better known by the titles Professor Venerable Samdhong Rinpoche and to Tibetans as the 5th Samdhong Rinpoche (born 5 November ), is a Tibetan Buddhist monk and former politician who served as the Prime Minister (then officially called the Kalon Tripa) of the cabinet of the Central Tibetan Administration, de facto Tibetan government-in-exile based in Dharamshala, India.

Venerable Samdhong Rinpoche was born in Jol, in eastern Tibet, Kham.
