Nemanja vidic biography

After playing a crucial part in three consecutive title winning seasons at Manchester United, as well as being named in the PFA Team of the Year in all of those campaigns, it is hard to imagine that a little over seven years ago Nemanja Vidic nearly turned his back on professional football.

The autumn of 2001 and the horrific and tragic events of the September 11th terrorist attacks in America provided a wake-up call to the world and will be forever remembered by all those who witnessed it.

Vidic, however, will hold dark memories and thoughts from those days for very different reasons. On October 1st 2001 his best friend and team mate Vladamir Dimitrijevic collapsed and died in front of him during a Red Star Belgrade training session.
